Fingerweaving, also known as indian braiding, was practiced by the eastern woodlands tribes, using natural fibers. The uses for fingerwoven buckskin are only limited to you imagination. Sashes and belts, powder horn straps, gun slings, and straps for our bags are just a few of the option.

Braid Styles Fingerwoven Braids and Straps (From the top to Bottom)

* 1. Ten strand flat weave

* 2. Six strand crocadile ridge, flat on back, ridged on front center

* 3. Five strand braid, rounded on front, flat on back

* 4. Eight strand square braid, a very thick rectangle shaped braid

* 5. Six strand, half-round braid, flat on back, round on front.

* 6. Eight strand standard flat fingerweave also available. (See Below)

Any of these braids can be ordered as straps on bags, as sashes, belts, or powderhorn straps. The standard 1 inch wide braid is $10 a foot. Wider braids take more material, so cost increases with width. A 2 inch wide braid is $20 a foot.
